I am on my way to bed, but I just wanted to say that I’ve been really blue this last week or so. I know it’s a gamble when you put yourself out there and you put your hopes on fulfilling a dream. It’s just that there is no guarantee. You can have a great idea, a great line, a great story, a great performance, etc., but if no one takes the time to see it or show any interest, then it only remains great to you…and those who love you. Thank God for them.
I think what it’s all about is really, truly loving what you do and doing it no matter who’s watching. The end result is not the accolades that you will / want to receive. It’s that you set out to accomplish something and you reached your goal. The goal is not winning, not selling, not recognition, not money, not fame, not publishing, not performing and not ‘arriving’. It is simply that you finished…whatever it was that you set out to do. Now, when you shut down your computer or you turn off the radio or shut down the lights or you close the door or put down your brush or whatever it is that you were doing before you sighed with relief and that big smile came across your face, just remember to congratulate yourself on a job Completed. That was the goal all along. Everything else is gravy.
